Dean's Message

Hello, CALS,

A very busy week ahead. Here are a few items to make note of:

My best - Dan

Scenes from CALS

Group of people gathered in a building hallway looking at student research posters.
The Science with Practice poster session took place last Wednesday in the Kildee Hall atrium. Nine CALS students and four George Washington Carver Research Internship Program students took part in the program this semester.
Group of students holding certificates.
Last week at the CALS Pathways to Innovation and leadership Showcase in the Student Innovation Center, several students were recognized for their achievements during the past semester and presented scholarships. Students also gave short presentations about skills they've learned through various study abroad experiences and internship opportunities.
Snow-covered road with electrical poles running parallel.
A beautiful, crisp, cold, snow-covered day driving east in Story County at 5 p.m. as the sun (barely reflected on the clouds in the picture) was about to set.
People standing around a line of tables with cooked turkeys on pans.
Carving stations ready at the annual Iowa Turkey Federation holiday banquet!
Person standing and holding a wooden plaque next to another person.
John Fisher, 1975 alum and Iowa farmer, receiving recognitions from Carmen Bain in thanks for his years of service on and leadership of the college's Agricultural Endowment Board!
Person standing on a stage in front of a large projector screen.
Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) President and CALS alum Brent Johnson addressing the assembly at the IFBF Annual Meeting in Des Moines last week. Notice the backdrop of a meaningful quote from M.S. Swaminathan, one of the leaders of the Green Revolution alongside Norman Borlaug, "If agriculture goes wrong, nothing else will have a chance to go right."
