Hello, CALS,
The beauty of our campus is never more evident than in these early summer months. As we welcome families for orientation, they’re greeted by blooming trees and fragrant pathways that showcase our campus at its finest. It’s an exciting moment for these families as they prepare their students to begin their college journeys, and it’s equally energizing for us as we imagine the next generation of learners who will soon fill our classrooms and laboratories. Thank you to the advisors, faculty and staff who are working so thoughtfully to highlight the strengths of our college and university and to help launch these students into this new chapter.
At the same time, the gentler pace of summer offers us a valuable opportunity to pause and reflect. Taking time to restore and refresh isn’t a luxury - it’s essential fuel for the year ahead. As the academic calendar eases, give yourself permission to step back, breathe deeply and reconnect with the people, places and practices that replenish your energy. Intentional rest strengthens creativity, clarity and purpose. Investing in your own well‑being now ensures you return with renewed focus and the capacity to support your students and colleagues with the generosity and brilliance they deserve.
Best,
Ruth
